DotA 2 is coming in 2011!

Typical DotA Multiplayer Map

DotA 2 (Defense of the Ancients) is soon to become, as some say, as great as World of Warcraft and StarCraft.
For those who are unaware, DotA was created as a custom scenario for RTS video game Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and its expansion: The Frozen Throne.

How do we know that this game has a great potential?
First, it is a product from Valve and IceFrog, which have brought us many good games over the last decade. Another is that DotA will be run by an improved Source engine. If you are familiar with the source engine than you know this is one of the best “engines” a game can have. Dota 2 is going to run through the well-known Steam.
Valve and IceFrog, both bring many “development weapons” to the table. Gameplay mechanics are taken care of by IceFrog. On the other hand, Valve is making sure that the game will look beautiful and realistic.

But what actually is Dota?
OK, as stated before, it was made for Warcraft 3, an awesome game which after a decade is still played at many LAN-parties.
When playing Dota you may control only one caracter at a time. You may level up your character, gather equipment and gold, plus a ton of other abilities.

Newbies will have an option of learning the tactics and gameplay through:
  •   many guides
  •   mentoring systems – Coaching
  •   AI bots for offline gameplay

No worry for Mac OS and Mac OS X users, as the game will run as good as on the Windows platform.

We are pumped up for this one, will be updating this often! Stay in touch.
